How two water rides are creating refreshing adventures in Vietnam’s biggest theme park

Aiming to become a top entertainment destination in southern Vietnam for both domestic and international tourists, VinWonders Phú Quốc opened in 2021 as the biggest theme park in the country. The ambition of creating a world-class venue naturally meant the need for a world-class attraction mix. So VinWonders selected not one, but two water rides – tried and true theme park highlights that are loved by guests all over the world. Supplied by WhiteWater, a River Raft Ride and a Super Flume opened at the end of 2022, to the delight of visitors in this region.

Viking River Rapids Ride is a 400m, five-minute adventure that takes riders past rockwork, through rushing waters, and immerses them in Nordic warrior themes. Guests in circular eight-person rafts travel down roaring rapids where they will enjoy exciting bumps and spins, two barrel blasts, and a geyser to get them refreshingly wet. There are also slow sections where riders can relax and discover the hidden secrets of the Viking village.

The Super Flume dares guests to explore the Amazon Volcano. Sitting in a boat decorated with lava motifs, riders will travel 500m past volcano rockwork, misters, smoke effects, and through a dark cave with lighted crystals. During the six minute ride, guests will experience uphill climbs, slow, medium, and fast river sections, a camelback drop, and a turntable that takes them to the finale – a 16.5m, 35-degree drop that will have them screaming down at 60 km/h, into the welcoming splash of water.

Both these rides are entertaining for spectators as well, as each path crosses a viewing bridge for optimal photo opportunities.

“These two water rides provide thrills and a cool reprieve that are perfect for guests of all ages,” said Kelly Sall, general manager, Water Rides at WhiteWater. “Through meticulous theming, they take the riders’ imagination to distant worlds and offer varied ride experiences that dry rides can’t replicate.”
